Disputes & Chargebacks

How to resolve a problem with a booking or order, and what happens when a card payment is disputed with the bank.

1. Start with the business

Most problems are solved fastest by messaging the business through MyBiznest. Explain what happened, attach photos if relevant, and give the business a reasonable opportunity to put it right under its published policy.

If that does not resolve it, submit a refund or cancellation request from the booking or order so there is a formal record.

2. Escalating to MyBiznest support

If the business is unresponsive or you cannot agree, open a support ticket through the Help Center. Include the booking or order reference and what outcome you are seeking.

For payments processed through MyBiznest, support can review the transaction record, the messages, and the policy snapshot stored with the transaction. Support may recommend or, where justified, issue a refund.

For payments made directly to the business or outside MyBiznest, there is no MyBiznest payment record to review or reverse. Those disputes must be resolved directly between the customer and the business.

3. Chargebacks

A chargeback is a dispute raised with your card issuer rather than with the business. It is only possible for card payments processed through MyBiznest with Stripe; it cannot apply to cash or other off-platform payments made to a business.

Please use the refund process first. Chargebacks take weeks, involve fees for the business, and may result in restrictions on your MyBiznest account if used to avoid paying for services actually received.

When a chargeback is raised, Stripe withdraws the disputed amount and a dispute fee from the business while the card network investigates. MyBiznest notifies the business, records the disputed amount against the transaction, and provides the transaction evidence available to it.

4. Responding to a chargeback as a business

  • Respond within the deadline Stripe gives you; missed deadlines are automatically lost.
  • Submit clear evidence: the listing, the confirmation, your published cancellation and refund policy, messages, proof of delivery or attendance, and any refund already given.
  • Do not issue a manual refund for an amount already under dispute, or you may lose the money twice.
  • The card network makes the final decision. Neither MyBiznest nor Stripe can overturn it.

5. Repeated disputes and abuse

Accounts with a pattern of chargebacks, fraudulent claims, or refund abuse may be restricted, have online payments disabled, or be suspended.

Businesses with excessive dispute rates may be required to change their policies, provide additional evidence, or lose access to online payments.

6. Limits and changes

MyBiznest facilitates resolution but is not an arbitrator, insurer, or guarantor of any transaction, and does not decide legal liability between a customer and a business.
